CARPENTER, J.L. - J.L. Carpenter, age 73 years, died at his home on the Centerton road west of Bentonville on Monday, January 30, 1928 at 10:30 o'clock. He was born in Tennessee in 1855 and has lived in this vicinity nearly 40 years. A wife and several children survive him. Services were held in the chapel of the Kerr and Callison undertaking rooms with the Rev. A.W. Henderson officiating. Burial was made in the Rogers cemetery.

CARPENTER, Maude - Mrs. Maude Carpenter, aged 73 years, died Tuesday morning at the S.D. Huffman residence on South Main Street where she had been making her home. She was ill but a few days and died of pneumonia. Funeral services will be held this afternoon from the Kerr & Callison funeral home. Burial will be made by the side of her husband, J.L. Carpenter, in the Rogers cemetery. Mr. Carpenter, who died two years ago, purchased a lot in the Rogers cemetery 47 years ago when he first came to this country. The family moved away but again moved here about 19 years ago and lived on a farm near Centerton. Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Illinois. She is survived by three sons, Clyde, Claude and A.B. Carpenter, all of Wichita, Kans., also by three daughters, Miss Ross Carpenter of Los Angeles and Mrs. E.S. Adkins of Wichita. (only 2 named) All of the children were here for the funeral.

CARPENTER, Mrs. - (from New Hope) W.H. Webster and wife motored to Bentonville Saturday to see Mrs. Carpenter who was seriously ill with pneumonia. She passed away at an early hour Sunday morning. Mrs. Carpenter has several warm friends in this section who are very sorry to hear of her death.
