Clyde Harp, 75, Is Found Dead

Dr. John Boyce, assistant state medical examiner and acting coroner, has ruled that the death Tuesday night of Clyde L. Harp, 75, Route 2, Springdale, was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Washington County officers were called to the Harp residence alter 9 p.m. when Harp's daughter, Mrs. Marcella West, who lived with her father, returned home. Mrs. West said she found her father lying in a pool of blood next to his bed.

Deputy Sheriff W. B. Colvard said a 12 gauge shotgun and one spent shell were found nearby. A note written by Harp was found in the kitchen.

Harp was born Jan. 1, 1899 in Springdale, the son of William and Sarah Stone Harp. He was a retired painter and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Lewis C. Harp of Springdale; three other daughters, Mrs. James Ledbetter of Springdale, Mrs. Russell Lane of Green Forest and Mrs. Charles Gooding of Fayetteville; three sisters, Miss Ollie Harp of Springdale, Mrs. Hattie Hensley of Siloam Springs, and Mrs. Maude Sills or Stockton, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sisco Chapel with burial in Sonora Cemetery.

Springdale — Mrs. Debbie Ann Harp, 67, of Route 2, Springdale died Tuesday in a local nursing home. Born May 31, 1907 in Benton County, the daughter of Eli and Janie Kendrick Graham, she was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by the husband, Clyde L. Harp of the home; one son, Lewis C. of Springdale; four daughters, Mrs. Marcella West and Mrs. Marilyn Ledbetter, both of Springdale, Mrs. Ladema Gooding of Fayetteville and Mrs. Lucille Lane of Green Forest; three sisters, Mrs. Birdie Fields of Bellflower, Calif. and Mrs. Lizzie Kendrick and Mrs. Mary Cooper of Springdale; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sisco Funeral Chapel with burial in Sonora Cemetery.
