James E. Nichols, 78, of Ozark died Saturday January 18, 2003, at his home. He was a retired catching crew worker with Cargill. Son of the late Bert and Gertie Waits Nichols, he was born august 19, 1924, in Low Gap community. Survivors include his wife, Laverne Mitchell Nichols; a daughter Karen Chenault of North Little Rock; a sister, Ruby Page of Barstow, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Shaffer Funera Home Chapel in Ozark, with Rev. Ted Darling officiating. Burial was at Belt Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy, Billy and Monte Waits, Jerry Spencer, Blake Mitchell and Sherman Chancey. Source> The Spectator, Ozark, AR, p.12, 1/22/2003.

Lavurn Nichols, 86 of Ozark, Arkansas, died April 2, 2012 in Fort Smith.
She was born July 24, 1925 in Ozark to Milton and Eulah Dickerson Mitchell.
She worked at the Ozark Hospital and George's Food King.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Belt Cemetery in Ozark, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Chenault of Jacksonville, Arkansas; one brother, Voit Parker of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
