June 23, 1955
John W. Moody 82, lifelong resident of Izard County, died at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 10 at the home of a son, Hershel Moody, Minturn, Ark.
A retired Izard County farmer, Mr Moody was a member of the Methodist Church. He was born in Sharp County but spent most of his life in Izard County.
Survivors include a brother, Robie Moody of Hoxie, Ark., four sons, Tom and Virgal of Melbourne, Glen of Cashmere, Wash., and Hershel of Minturn, Ark.: two daughters, Mrs Dorothy Hamilton of Lawrence, Mich., and Mrs Minnie Linn of Wenatchee, Washington; twenty-one grand children and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Baptist Church at Melbourne, with Rev. A. F. Muncy officiating. He was assisted by Rev. D. G. Hindman pastor of the local Methodist Church. Burial was in the Blue Church Cemetery under the direction of Halls Funeral Home of Melbourne.
The deacons of the Baptist Church served as pallbearers and included J. C. Miller, R. L. Blair, Harry Shell and Hollis Bone.
