John Reeves Funeral Held Thursday At Mt. Pleasant

John Franklin Reeves, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday in a hospital at Melbourne. He was born at Gid, was a retired farmer and a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Reeves of the home; two sons, Archie Reeves of Mt. Pleasant and Ray Reeves of Delano, Calif., six daughters, Mrs. Martin Dry of Senath, Mo., Mrs. John Paddock of Globe, Ariz., Mrs. Ed Conyers of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Olan Killian of Delano, Calif., Mrs. Grover Stevens of Batesville and Mrs. Delbert Johnson of Thermal, Calif., one step-son, Cleo Ruminer of Batesville and one sister, Mrs. Rosie Moser of Batesville.

Funeral services will be held in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Thursday at 2 p.m. with burial in the Lewis Cemetery by Davies Batesville Funeral Home.

Pallbearars will be grandsons, Vaughndee Reeves, Lellie Reeves, Remmel Conyers, Johnny Stevens, Marvin Dry and Bernard McFarland.

[Note: The birthdate on the gravestone is apparently wrong. The World War I draft registration shows he was born, March 10, 1877. The 1900 census shows that he is 23 years old, and his birth is listed as March 1877 which agrees with the age in the obituary.]
