Dick Reeves, son of the late Elbert and Lillie McElroy Reeves was born April 29, 1916 in Newport. He died May 3, 1998 in Batesville. He was 82.

Mr. Reeves was united in marriage to Nola Martin December 30, 1942 in Melbourne. He spent most of his life as a self-employed cattle and horse farmer. He served as City Marshal in Melbourne and owned Melbourne Cleaners. Mr. Reeves ran a moving picture show at area schools including LaCrosse and Guion. He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Melbourne Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He was a member of the Melbourne United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held May 5, 1998 at the Roman & Billy Howard Chapel in Melbourne with Doyle Berchfeldt officiating.

Pallbearers were Raymond Owens, Don helm, Charlie Lamb, David Miller, Lloyd Jones and Jerry Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Blankenship, Hale Bibb, Lloyd Garner and Darrell Sherrell.

Interment was at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
