Johnnie Ethel Smith, 92, of Huntsville, Arkansas, died July 19, 2011 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born August 7, 1918 at Dumas, Texas, the daughter of Robert and Johnnie Kelcy Purves. She had retired from Butterball Turkey Company. She was a member of the Huntsville Church of Christ, the Rebekah Lodge and the Huntsville Extension Homemakers Club. She was the widow of Harry Alton Smith who preceded her in death on March 3, 1982. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Purves and Robert Purves and by one sister, Mora Robinett.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Harry Alton Smith, Jr. and Cindy Smith of Jacksonville, Arkansas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Johnnie and Dean Bartlett of Huntsville, Arkansas and Bobbie and Sam Ramey of Parkersburg, West Virginia; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Scott and Shonna Smith of Hindsville, Arkansas and Eric Ramey of Parkersburg, West Virginia; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Jaye and Gene Bradshaw of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Tamara and Terry Long and Carol and Scott Williams, all of Huntsville, Arkansas; five great-grandsons, Randall Long, Matthew Williams and Jonathan Williams, all of Huntsville, Arkansas and Evan Smith and Landon Smith, both of Hindsville, Arkansas and two great-granddaughters, Sarah Long of Huntsville, Arkansas and Jessica Bradshaw of North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Friday, July 22, at the Huntsville Church of Christ with Larry Combs, Minister officiating. Interment will be in the Alabam Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be: Derrick Thomas, Doug Howerton, Glen Thomas, Sam Ramey, Terry Long and Gene Bradshaw. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
