PEA RIDGE — Hugh Huntington Webb, Jr., 73, of Pea Ridge, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at his home. He was born July 18, 1936, at Bentonville, to Hugh Huntington Webb, Sr., and Nellie Irene Chiles Webb.
He was a lifelong resident of Pea Ridge. He graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1954 and went on to Draughns Business College in Springfield, Mo., and College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark.
Hugh was one of the founders of Pea Ridge Little League baseball in 1958. He and his father were instrumental in the development of the first Pea Ridge Football program and the Pea Ridge Football Stadium in 1963. He was a 32nd degree Mason; he was one of the first board members of the Benton County Sunshine School which he continued to serve throughout the years, and the Pea Ridge Athletic Booster Club for many years. Over the past 19 years he worked at Fellowship Bible Church of NWA and took great joy in serving at the Samaritan House ministries. He was known by many in the various children's ministries as "Poppy" and loved his Wednesday morning Men's Bible Study group. He was an avid Razorback fan and enjoyed playing golf. One of his greatest joys was watching any sport or game that his granddaughters or grandsons were playing.
Hugh had a deep love for God, his family and his church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eula Mae Walker.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 53 years, Dortha "Dolt" Lea Clardy Webb; two sons, Rick Webb and wife Toni and Rusty Webb all of Pea Ridge; three daughters, Kim Brown and husband John and Kerrie Smith and husband Mike all of Pea Ridge, and Kellie Webb of Rogers; ten grandchildren, Courtney and husband Braxton Hurst; Alex and Kip Kelly; Tammy and Bandon Webb; and Joe Goetz all of Pea Ridge; Jenny Kate and Caroline Webb of Springdale; Lindsay Kelly of Jacksonville, Fl.; and great-granddaughter, Gracyn Lee Hurst, his little "Pee Wee"; a sister, Mabel McKinney and husband Fred, and brother-in-law, Russell Walker all of Pea Ridge; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is set for Tuesday, April 6, 11:00 in the Worship Center at Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas with Pastor Robert Cupp officiating. Burial will be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is set for 9-10:30am on Tuesday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in honor of Hugh Webb, Jr., to Benton County Sunshine School, 3400 Woods Lane, Rogers, Arkansas, 72756; or Pea Ridge Scholarship Association, 2063 Park Circle, Pea Ridge, Arkansas, 72751.
Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.
