James S. Black Sr.
SPRINGDALE -- James Stanley Black Sr., 83, of Springdale died Aug. 25, 2004, at his home. He was born July 2, 1921, in Fayetteville to Jeff Thomas and Mattie Lee Watts Black. He moved to the area in 1957 from Peru, Ind. He was a Springdale police officer and had one of the first K-9 units in Springdale. He was manager of the Vantress Hatchery in Springdale.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Black of the home, to whom he was married March 23, 1945; four sons, James "Jim" Black Jr. and wife Dollie of Springdale, Gary Black and wife Marilyn of Bella Vista, Jeff Black and wife Belinda of Prairie Grove and Sam Black and wife Cindy of Bethel Heights; three daughters, Lois Ann Jeffcoat and husband Rick of Pea Ridge, Janet Richey and husband Harry of Shelbyville, Ind., and Donna Sue Wilson of Pea Ridge; two brothers, Jeff T. Black and Joe P. Black, both of Fayetteville; two sisters, Nell Howell of Everson, Wash., and Betty Ross of Greenland; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy L. Black, 86, of Lowell, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born June 28, 1922 in Peru, Indiana to Jesse and Ora Glenn Hight Mogle.

Dorothy retired from Emerson Electric after 25 years of service. She enjoyed counted cross stitching.

She was preceded in death by her husband , James Stanley Black, Sr. on August 25, 2004.

Survivors include four sons James Stanley (Jim) Black, Jr. and wife Dollie of Springdale, Gary Black and wife Carole of Rogers, Jeff Black and wife Belinda of Prairie Grove and Sam Black and wife Cindy of Bethel Heights; three daughters Lois Ann Jeffcoat and husband Rick of Pea Ridge, Janet Richey and husband Harry of Shelbyville, Indiana and Donna Sue Wilson of Pea Ridge; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
