Mrs. Martha Elizabeth “Betty” Tilley, 85, of Gassville, the widow of John Tilley, died at her home last Thursday. She was a lifetime resident of Baxter County , and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
The daughter of James Madison Barton and Ancadie Jane Hudaon Barton, she was born in this county on Nov 29, 1884 . She had been widowed since Jan 4, 1969.
Survivors include four sons, Jim of Old Joe, Frank of Mountain Home, Clarence of Jonesboro and Dan of Beebe; three daughters, Mrs Mary Bowman of Calico Rock, Mrs Irene Foster of Old Joe and Mrs hazel Payne of Martin Springs; two sisters, Mrs Mary Caststeel and Mrs Stella Beavers, both of Gassville; 36 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Galatia Methodist Church near Norfork, with Rev. Troy Melton of Mountain Home officiating. Interment was in the Galatia Cemetery , under the direction of the McClure-Smith Service.
Pallbearers were Joe Delaney, Troy Lackey, Junior Trivitt, Paul Beaver, Kelo Horton and Leland Sisk.
(Note: both the death and birth dates on the stone disagree with the obit.)
