John Tilley, 83, a retired farmer residing on the Walker Road, Route 1, Mountain Home, died here last Saturday. A native of Baxter County, he was a member of the Baptist Church .
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Galatia Methodist Church , near Norfork, by Rev. O. I. Ford, pastor of the East Side Baptist Church of Mountain Home. Interment in the Galatia Cemetery was directed by the McClure Service.
Mr. Tilley was born at Big Flat on June 14, 1885 , the son of Elisha Tilley and Elizabeth Wallace Tilley and resided here most of his life. He was married to Elizabeth Barton in 1903.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Elizabeth Tilley of Gassville; four sons, Clarence of Jonesboro, Dan of Beebe and Jim and Frank Tilley both of Mountain Home; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Bowman of Calico Rock, Mrs. Irene Lackey of Jordan and Mrs. Hazel Payne of Salesville; a sister Mrs. Minta Webster of Tuckerman; 41 grandchildren and 2l7 great-grandchildren.
