ROSS, Phoebe J. HALSTEAD - Funeral services of the late Mrs. J.F. Ross were held at the First M.E. church Friday morning at 10:30 and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Murphy, assisted by Rev. M.C. Hickman of Springdale. Interment was in the Rogers cemetery. Phoebe J. Halstead was born in Franklin Co., 0. Sept. 22, 1836 where she lived until 1848 when her parents moved to Crawford Co., Pa. It was there that she met Rev. J.F. Ross and they were married in 1853. In 1859 they went to Michigan where they remained until 1893 when they came south for Mrs. Ross' health. After a short stay in Missouri they went to Southwestern Louisiana where they remained until 1901 when they came to Siloam Springs. Later Mr. Ross was pastor of the M.E. church at Fayetteville, retiring from the ministry and removing to Rogers in 1907. Mrs. Ross is survived by her husband and two children, Mrs. T.A. Winkleman and W.A. Ross, both of this city. Mrs. Ross had been a patient sufferer for many years but exemplified the many Christian virtues that made her a loved wife and mother, a valued friend and neighbor.
