Visitation for James Ethridge Payne of Mt. Home will be from 9AM to 9PM today at Roller Funeral Home. Mr. Payne died Saturday (Feb 2, 1991) at Baxter Manor Nursing Home. He was 86.
Services will be held at 2PM Tuesday at Fairview United Methodist Church with Bro. Charles Howard officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with Bill Brewer, Eddie Nichols, Bruce McNutt, Tony Lewis, Raymond Parton and Claude Beavers serving as pallbearers.
A retired conductor for Missouri Pacific Railroad, Mr. Payne was also an artist who painted and worked with wood. He was born June 28, 1904, at Nixon TN, to the late Anniniasis and Sophronia E. Young Payne. He married the former Elsie P. Davis. Mr. Payne was Pentecostal.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Payne was preceded in death by one son and one sister.
He is survived by a son, Robert G. Payne of Independence, MO; a daughter, Reba Heiskill of Mt. Home; six grandchildren, including Dennis Heiskill, Raymond Heiskill and Jeani Balestrei, all of Mr. Home, and Ron Heiskill of Norfork; and four great grandchildren.
