Austin W. Payne, 96, passed away Dec 21, 2008. A funeral will be a 2PM Sunday at Kirby and Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Galatia Cemetery at Norfork. Visitation will be 5-7PM Satruday at Kirby and Family Funeral Home.
Born Feb 26, 1912, at Norfork, Mr. Payne was the son of the late Mitchell and Clara Boyd Payne. He had an adventurous spirit and quite a sense of humor. He loved traveling and his profession as a heliarc welder took him all over the United States. He dearly loved the White River and the mountains where he grew up and always enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Velda; second Wife Hazel; two sisters; and two brothers. He is survived by a daughter, Jennie Ann (Lew) Gravis; four grandchildren, Lewis P. Gravis, Melissa Waikel, Heather Riley and Robert Gravis; 13 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and one sister Florine Perry of Athens, GA.
