Virga M. Whitfield, 81, of Norfork passed away Friday, Feb 1, 2008, at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House. A graveside service will be 10AM Monday at Galatia Cemetery with the Rev Tom Stover officiating.
She was born April 14, 1926, in McPherson to James Wesley and Evah Nora (Acklin) Greer and lived in the area her whole life. She married Roe Whitfield, her husband of 64 years, Nov 5, 1943. Virga will be remembered as a great mom. She loved quilting, sewing and all types of needlework. She attended Galatia Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. Whitfield is survived by her husband, Roe Whitfield of the home; five daughters, Verna (Bob) Fuller of Norfork, Donna (Bob) Vincent of Mt. Home, Rowena (Dan) Davis of Norfork, Carol (Jim) Cowart of Gassville and Mellisa Cartwright of Norfork; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and two sisters, Berlie Harris and Thelma Jeffery. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Memorial may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
