DEASON, John R. - John R. Deason died at an early hour Monday morning of heart failure at his home about five miles north of Rogers. Funeral services were held at Oakley Chapel and were conducted by Reverend Jordan of Rogers. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church at Pleasant Hill, near his home. Mr. Deason was 41 years old and had lived here all his life, being born near the farm where he died. He was a son of Mrs. Rena Deason of this city and had a number of brothers here. Mr. Deason was twice married, his first wife being Miss Sallie Black, by whom he had two children, Maud and Claud, both of whom are still at home. Thirteen years ago he married Miss Fannie Christy, who survives him and who is a daughter of B. Christy of Rogers. They had one child, Madge, who is only two years old. The following tribute to his memory was handed us by J.A.C. Blackburn: John R. Deason was an upright, honorable gentleman and was one of a large family which I am proud to say are all noted for their honesty and morality, as well as for their industry. The father of the deceased, John Deason, and I were in the same company during the Civil War and no truer or braver soldier or nobler gentleman ever went to battle. He would divide the only biscuit he had with a fellow soldier and I here state without fear of contradiction that there is not a family in Benton county today who stand higher for truthfulness, honesty and industry than does the Deason family. The deceased leaves a wife and three children; also a mother and several brothers and sisters as well as numerous friends to mourn his death. He was a noble gift of nature but by that immutable decree of God, the young as well as the old are subject to death and no amount of prayers, no amount of wealth, no amount of virtue can ever change that decree.
