WARDLAW, James Robert - James Robert Wardlaw, 28 years old, died Wednesday, August 10th, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Wardlaw, west of Rogers, the result of tuberculosis. Mr. Wardlaw, who lived in St. Louis and had been in poor health since last February, came to Rogers some six weeks ago to be at the home of his parents. Funeral services were held at Oakley Chapel Thursday, August 11th, and were conducted by Rev. Wm. Lee Edwards, pastor of the First Christian Church of Rogers. Interment was in the Oakley Chapel cemetery. Mr. Wardlaw was born near Martin, Tenn. September 24, 1898 where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Mayrine Wimberly near Martin September 8, 1918. He confessed his faith in the Lord at church near Martin but was never baptized in the Christian Church. For the past three or four years he had been working as head mechanic at Mendenhall Garage. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mayrine Wardlaw, his parents C.D. Wardlaw and wife; three brothers, Willie and Ira of St. Louis and Audrey at home with his parents; and by two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Smith of Tennessee and Pauline, also at home. Among those who attended the funeral Thursday were his brother-in-law, Gaither Turner of St. Louis; his brothers, Willie and Ira Wardlaw of St. Louis; and his cousins, Lee Wardlaw of St. Louis and Claud Wardlaw of Monett. The pall bearers Thursday were all cousins of the deceased: Cleo, Claud and Lee Wardlaw; Virgil and Harold Lovelace and Jas. Rakes. The deceased was a member of one of the oldest families in this section but had never lived here himself. His father left Benton county in his youth and went to Tennessee where he married and raised his family. The son had visited here and was known to many of our people. His untimely death is the cause of much regret to all who knew him and the family.
