Charles Rudolph Linn or "Chuck" proudly served in World War II with his four brothers, William Robert, LeRoyce, James Ray and Robert Benjamin Jr.. Chuck served in the U.S. Coast Guard on the U.S.S. Knoxville PF-64. During the war, his ship sunk many German submarines that were very near the coasts of America. This Patrol Frigate, U.S.S. Knoxville PF-64, first served in the Atlantic, running out of Norfolk as a training vessel. The Knoxvillle was then deployed as a transport and escort ship from the east coast to Africa, occassionally engaging in an anti-submarine vessel, and returned to Norfolk to be outfitted as a weather ship to serve in the North Atlantic.

Uncle Chuck was married four times, first to Augusta LARGENT, his first love, but I think his greatest love was his last wife, Mildred. Chuck was fun loving, adventurous and loved to feed the squirrels in his yard. His loved his wife, his parents, his brothers and his many nieces and nephews.

At his funeral service, his Coast Guard buddies gave him a very nice honor. There is a WWII Coast Guard memorial on the back of his headstone.
