Friends and relatives of Mrs. Mollie Cockrum were shocked to hear of her death in a Kansas City, MO hospital on the morning of July 27. It was known that she had gone to Kansas City for an operation, but it was not believed to be a very serious operation until her daughter, Mrs. Luna Finley of Norfork, received a telegram that she was not expected to live.
The deceased was born in Nashville, IL, February 19, 1867, and came to Arkansas a few years later with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gaither.
She was united in marriage to A.T. Cockrum of Lone Rock, AR in 1884 and to this union were born five children, three boys and two girls, four of whom are still living. The husband preceded her in death about three years ago.
She united with the Methodist Church about twenty-five years ago and had been a faithful and consistent member of that church up until the time of her death.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lucy Gaither of Lone Rock; three sons, A.V. Cockrum and V. C. Cockrum of Kansas City, MO, and E.V. Cockrum of Norwood, Co; and daughter, Mrs. Luna Finley of Norfork; three sister, Mrs. Nora Cockrum and Yuca Gaither of Lone Rock and Mrs. M.R. Pryor of Norfork and a number of grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church at Norfork, Tuesday, July 30, by the Rev. W.H. Wright of Cotter and burial was in the Norfork Cemetery.
A son, Vaud and wife of Kansas City, were in attendance at the funeral, having accompanied the remains from Kansas City to Norfork.
