William S. Cockrum, age 86, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was born April 13, 1928, in Mountain Home, Arkansas to William Alvin and Tacy (Henderson) Cockrum.
Mr. Cockrum married Verna Mae Lance December 24, 1949, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He is a retired crane operator for Armco Steel Company in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended the Clarkridge Church of Christ.
Mr. Cockrum is survived by his wife of 64 years: Verna Mae Cockrum of Mountain Home, Arkansas, three sons: Glen Ray Cockrum of Cartney, Arkansas, William Bruce Cockrum and wife Kashmiar of Clarkridge, Arkansas and Sherman Edward Cockrum and wife Karen of Yellville, Arkansas, two daughters: Linda Kay Studdard and Gwen Fay Maynard and husband Elton all of Mountain Home, Arkansas, three sisters: Eddie Ruth Stone of Clarkridge, Arkansas, Irene Milligan of Batesville, Arkansas and Voneva Sinor of Whiteville, Arkansas, a sister-in-law Geneva Cockrum and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Clayton King and Brother Wayne Camp officiating. A visitation will be Monday from Noon until 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Quality Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Clarkridge Church of Christ or Quality Ridge Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
