Joe R. Thompson, 77, of Junction City, AR passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
He was born May 21, 1934, in Star City, AR to Allen Wynn and Evie Thompson and was raised in Lonoke. Joe worked as a meat cutter for Kroger and Wal-Mart and was a grand master mason.
Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother Dub Thompson and a sister Pauline Highfill.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Peggy Thompson of Junction City, AR; four children, Becky Austin and her husband Jim of Pine Bluff, AR, Robert Thompson and his wife Monica of Sheridan, AR, Tamera Russell and her husband Toby of El Dorado & Terry Thompson of Junction City, AR; a sister, Helen Frizzell of Star City, AR; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a beloved dog Sissy.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2011, at Young’s.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011, in Young’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Jolley Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
