Linda Nicklas Thompson age 76 of Junction City passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, LA. She was born on August 13, 1943 in Spur, TX to the late Irene Tibitha Shannon Nicklas and Joseph Wilson Nicklas JR. Linda attended Bernice High School, from where she graduated in 1961. She began working as a bookkeeper with Junction City Veneer Company in 1963, which is where she met her husband H.W. Thompson. In 1965, Linda took her second bookkeeping job with C.A. Reed Lumber Company of Bernice. She continued working at that same location, under several company names for the next 35 plus years, before her retirement in 2002, with Long Length Lumber. After her retirement, Linda went back to work part time for Auto lube Express in El Dorado, for the next 15 years before her final retirement in 2018. Linda was an avid LSU and Saints fan and never missed a game on TV. She enjoyed working puzzles and feeding and watching the hummingbirds.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, H.W. Thompson, four sisters, Nadine Nicklas, Mary Alice Nicklas, Vivian Farrar and Ima Jean Bennett; two brothers, Alvis Nicklas and Melvin Nicklas.
Survivors include; two sons, Tim Roope and wife Gabriella of Belton, TX, and Walt Thompson and wife Wendy of Junction City; one daughter, Tammy Brantley and husband Rod of Junction City; three grandsons, Joshua Thompson and wife Caroline of Junction City, Hunter Brantley and fiancé Kennedy Hodge of Junction City, and David Roope of Belton, TX; three granddaughters, Mackenzie Brantley of Junction City, Jessica Roope, and Jennifer Roope both of Ft. Worth, TX; one step grandson, Jarod Brantley and wife Melissa of Shreveport, LA; one step great granddaughter, Ava Brantley of Shreveport; sisters in law, Joyce Nicklas of Haughton, LA, and Margaret Ingram of Texas City, TX along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Due to the current Covid-19 conditions, all services will be private. A private interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. A public memorial service will take place at a later date. Please sign our online guestbook
