Velta Mae Gibson, transitioned from the world into the loving arms of the Holy Father, his son, and the family members that were called home before on Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Born October 10, 1926 near Cecil, Arkansas to Elbert Lee Eubanks and Mamie Faye Weller Eubanks. Mother was 88 years old. She was the eighth of nine children, a twin sister would follow a few minutes later. Graduating from Charleston High School, class of 1945. Grandpa moved grandma and the twins to Fort Smith shortly there after. Mom and Aunt Vesta joined the Calvary Baptist Church @ 18 and was baptized into the Christian faith. She became the bride of Alvis Ray Gibson on June 18, 1949, a star basketball player for Charleston, where they met. She was a Wife, Mother, Homemaker, caretaker and a retiree of Weldon, Williams and Lick after 27 years of service, and a member of Liberty Order of the Eastern Star Chapter for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers, her loving husband and youngest son, Ricky Gene Gibson. Survived by her son,Randall (Randy) Ray Gibson, twin, Vesta Loftin, four sisters in law, Betty Love of Charleston, Vera Gibson and Lucille Eubanks of Fort Smith, Eulema Stanford of Booneville, several nieces, nephews, and best friends, Faye Robertson,Louise Shaver, and many other relatives and special friends. Pastor Edward Ellis and Chaplain Sylvia Bell will preside the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2014 at the Woodlawn Chapel, 4211 State Line Road in Fort Smith. Private burial will preceded the service. I would like to thank Dr. Sumer Phillips an incredible physician. The Mercy Hospice Staff , Dr. Pam Gaborni, and nurses,Edith, Nevada, Kim and Mona. Our homecare professional Martha, and especially our RN Ronda Masri. The care and love you showed us will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Alzheimers Association, The Fort Smith Animal Shelter or the Charleston Animal Shelter. You were there for me when I took my first breath and by God’s Grace, I was with you for your last. I love you, Momma. Arrangements under the direction of Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith, AR.
