April 27, 1944 - April 29, 2013
Don (Donnie) Gibson, 69, of Fort Smith, died April 27, 2013 at home.
He was born on April 27, 1944 in Fort Smith to the late James Gibson and Rosemary Crigger.
Except for a few years in Wister, Oklahoma, he was a lifelong resident of Fort Smith.
Survivors include two sisters, Ginny Pharr of New London, Wisconsin and Carolyn Morse and her husband Dwight of Hot Springs; two brothers, James Gibson and his wife Sue of Lenexa, Kansas and Jonathan Krueger of Kansas City and many nieces and nephews.
Donnie worked for years as a personal assistant to many people in the Fort Smith area. He did whatever was needed of him including housekeeping, cooking, taking people where they might need to go, gardening or just being there in times of need. He will be dearly missed by those he touched. He had a special gift of putting people at ease and making everyone he came in contact with part of his family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00, preceding the service.
Pallbearers will be Tim Morse, Richard Poole, Justin Underwood, Rick Corley, Tom Wofford, and Jeff Neil.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Benton Cohn and Ron and Paula McCormick.
