January 15, 1949 - June 4, 2015
David Carroll Carter went to be with his savior on June 4, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He was born January 15, 1949 to the late Cody Calvin and Minnie Belle Carter.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steve.
David began touching the hearts of those around him early in life. As one of the noted Fort Smith Northside High School Carters, David was a 9 time letterman in Football, Basketball, and Track being recognized with numerous awards culminating with being selected to 3 All-America Teams and Arkansas Athlete of the Year in 1967. He then attended the University of Arkansas to play football for his beloved Razorbacks. A salesman’s salesman, David spent the last several years as the sales manager with Entertainment Fort Smith Magazine. David was a vital member of the Fort Smith Northside support community. With all his success in life what mattered to him most was his family. His family and friends remember him as a gentle soul with a loving heart and an outsized personality that had a gravitational pull.
David is survived by three sons, David Michael France of Dallas, Texas; Nathan Scott Carter and wife Taylor of Maumelle, Arkansas; Harley Britt Carter of Little Rock; and his grandchildren MacKenzie and Yates; brothers Richard and Roger, sisters Lila Mackey, Becky Walker, and Donna Payne; along with many nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, Monday, June 8, 2015 beginning at 2 p.m.
