Robert A May, age 84 of Hope, Arkansas passed away Saturday October 28, 2023, in Texarkana, Texas. Robert was born in Jennings, Louisiana on November 2, 1938, to Chester and Ruby Lee Kreiger May. Robert graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in mathematics. He returned to Hempstead County where he taught math and coached basketball at Blevins Junior High School. He was superintendent of Patmos for three years. Robert then went to work with his father at their family business Hope Butane Gas as pump installer and drilling rig operator. He started May Water Well Service in 1999 and retired in 2010.
His hobbies included building and flying model airplanes as well as helicopters, also becoming a private pilot. Robert enjoyed photography, building computers and could fix anything that broke. He was a member of East Side Church of Christ. He is preceded by two brothers, Billy Clyde and John May.
In 1961 he married the love of his life Dorothy Ball, survivors include, his wife of 62 years Dorothy May, two sons, Ronald May (Amy) of Colleyville, Texas, Raymon May of Albuquerque, New Mexico, three grandchildren, Garrett May of Dallas, Texas, Hailey and Morgan May of Colleyville, Texas, two sisters, Nancy McCoy (Shirl) of Ashdown, Arkansas, Sandra May of Hope, brother Sherman May (Earletta) also of Hope, host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday November 1, 2023, from 9:00am to 10:00am at Central Church of Christ, a service to follow at 10:00am with Zack Redmon officiating. Burial to follow in Central Cemetery.
