Galen Wayne May, 82 of Hope, AR passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 in Texarkana, TX. He was born September 3, 1936 in Bodcaw, AR. He was a farmer and cattleman his entire life. Mr. May was preceded in death by his parents: Earnest David and Flora Lee Putman May; his brother, Arval Earnest May; his sister Margie Lou May Gunter.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Joann Bright May; two daughters Judy Sisson and Harley, of Russellville, AR; Lisa Davis-Gulick and Steve, of Hope, AR. Five grandchildren: Courtney McNiel, of Hope, AR; Kara Beth Burnett and Eric, of Russellville, AR; Natalie Wood and Wes, of Weatherford, TX; Cory Davis of Little Rock, AR; Lauren Powers and Caleb of Dover, AR; and special longtime family friends Becky Lavender and George Graves, both of Hope, AR. Mr. May also leaves behind four great-grandchildren who were the absolute lights of his life: Addison Gage Burnett, Colton Edward Wood and Trulee Elizabeth and Saylor Olivia McNiel.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home.
Services will be 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home 1001 South Main Hope, AR. Mr. Harley Sisson, Jr. will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements by BRAZZEL/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope, Eddie BRAZZEL, Director.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to Hospice of Texarkana.
Joann, Judy, Lisa and family express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the nurses, doctors, volunteers, and staff of Baptist Health Hospice of Arkadelphia and of Hospice of Texarkana. The care provided to our family was beyond anything imaginable. To Becky Lavender and George Graves, there are no words that could accurately describe the sincere love and appreciation our family has for each of you.

Mrs. JoAnn Bright May, age 81 of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Saturday August 31, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas. JoAnn was born on March 6, 1938, in Prescott, Arkansas, to Brad and Sybil Stokes Bright.
She was a member of Hope Church of Christ and dearly loved her passion to be a true southern cook.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years Galen May, sisters, Mary Lou Lambert, Ruth Fincher, Louise Harrell and one brother Richard Clinton “Dick” Bright of whom she considered more of a father.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters: Judy Sisson, husband Harley Jr. of Russellville, Arkansas, Lisa Gulick husband Steve of Hope, Arkansas, Five grandchildren: Courtney Mc Niel husband Eric of Hope, Arkansas, Kara Beth Burnett, husband Eric of Russellville, Arkansas, Natalie Wood, husband Wes of Weatherford, Texas, Cory Davis of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lauren Powers, husband Caleb of Dover, Arkansas, four great-grandchildren who were the loves of her life: Addison Gage Burnett, Colton Edward Wood, Trulee Elizabeth and Saylor Olivia McNeil, special longtime family friend Becky Lavender of Hope, Arkansas, two special nephews Scott and Blake Bright, a host relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00pm on Tuesday September 3, 2019, at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest 1001 South Main Hope, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm on Tuesday September 3, 2019, at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest with Mr. Harley Sisson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of BRAZZEL/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope, Eddie Brazzel Director.
