Marie Porter, age 90 of Camden, AR died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Silver Oaks. She was born March 13, 1922 in Camden. A daugher of the late William Connor and Emma Germann Proffitt.

Mrs. Porter was a life long member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. She worked many years in quality control in the defense plants in East Camden. Her most gratifing work was volunteering at the Lakeside Cemetery. She had to retire when she could no longer walk at age 87. She was honored by being elected a lifetime board member of the cemetery.

Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel Porter; twin brother, Myrle Proffitt; and brother, Mose Proffitt; sister, Louise Clay; and a grandson, Marc Johnston.

Mrs. Porter is survived by her son, Jody Williams (Wanda) of Camden; daughter, Carolyn Johnston (O. B.) of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Blake Williams and Jim Johnston of Camden; and great grandsons, Dylan Johnston of New Edinburg and Johnathan Gee of New Orleans.

Funeral services will be 9:00 AM Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Reverends Ricky Smith and James Harris will officiate the service. Visitation will be Friday 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Cemetery, c/o Tarver Germann, 274 Ouachita 204, Camden, AR 71701.
