June 9, 1928 - April 28, 2022

Loy Dale McCollum, son of the late Joseph Paul McCollum and Ruby Wagoner McCollum, was born June 9, 1928 in Violet Hill, Arkansas. He departed this life April 28, 2022 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 9 days. He graduated from Violet Hill High School and went on to marry Delma Thompson June 1, 1955 and together they raised four children. Loy proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Loy spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. Loy spent 50 years owning and operating McCollum Heating and Air. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a long-time member of Melbourne Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Delma McCollum of the home; one son: Greg McCollum of Jonesboro; three daughters: Karen Wallis and husband Danny of Jonesboro, Trina Odell and husband Tom of Wainfleet, Ontario and Shelly Beasley and husband Brad of Jonesboro; one brother: Larry McCollum and wife Gretchen of Hindsville; one sister: Mary Shearer and husband Bob of Ames, Iowa; 11 grandchildren: Erica (Ryan) Simmons, Leslie (Adam) Baker, Joseph (Amie) Wallis, Jake (Meredith) Wallis, Brook (Steve) Vanegas, Justin Odell, Brandon Perry, Seth Perry, Dailey (Landry) Dowdy, Clayton Beasley, Mason Beasley; 13 great grandchildren: Carson Simmons, Olivia Simmons, Parker Simmons, Eli Baker, Easton Baker, Ellis Baker, Addi Baker, Jackson Wallis, Charlie Beth Wallis, Sage Wallis, Hannah Kostecki, Kade Kostecki and Rowan Dowdy and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Bonnie Moser, Earline McCollum and one brother: Bobby Joe McCollum.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 1 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Funeral service will be Monday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home with Michael Meredith officiating. Burial will be at Combs Cemetery in Melbourne.

Pallbearers: Steve Taylor, Kenny McCollum, Mason Beasley, Clayton Beasley, Joseph Wallis and Jake Wallis.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mark Ellis, Justin Odell, Seth Perry, Brandon Perry, Kevin McCollum, Ryan Simmons, Adam Baker.
