Anson A. McCollum of Melbourne, son of the late Jay Bryan McCollum and Girtha Fay Moore, was born October 12, 1932. He died August 24, 1996 at his home. Mr McCollum was united in marriage to Betty Guthrie October 12, 1956 and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. Mr McCollum spent his life as a local contractor and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Melbourne Masonic Lodge #141. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, David and Doyle McCollum both of Melbourne; one daughter, Diane Honey of Cherokee Village; two sisters, Marie Taylor of Edmond, Oklahoma and Vetrial Yancey of Independence, Missouri; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and one sister. Funeral services were held August 26, 1996 at the Eddie Howard Chapel in Melbourne with Brother Denzel Stokes officiating. Pallbearers were Rex Tate, Jerry Blevins, Horace Yancey, Harris Walker, Galen Hodge and Chris Hill. Honorary pallbearers were Don Lawrence, John Miller, Dale "Bucksey" Harmon and Mike Cone. Interment was at the Old Philadelphia Cemetery in Larkin under the direction of the Eddie Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne
