Verda Lucille Jeffus Woodell, age 93, died October 15, 2011 at Silver Oaks Nursing Home. She was born March 19, 1918 in Cleveland County near Rison, AR. She was the daughter of the late Frank Huntley and the late LaVicie Bell Huntley. She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She also attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Pine Bluff, AR for nine years with her second husband. She was active in her church and community; having served as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher and President of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She was also an active Member of the Home Extension Service; having served in several office positions, including Ouachita County Council. She helped organize the Fellowship 4-H Club and served as one of its leaders for twenty years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Will T. Jeffus Jr. and her second husband, Vernon (Jake) Woodell; four brothers, Marion Huntley, A. J. Huntley, Edward Huntley and Joe Huntley; three sisters, Mattie Huntley Studdard, Margaret Huntley Butler and infant sister, Sarah Waldean Huntley. She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Jeffus Pate and husband, Larry; one son, Thomas Jeffus and wife Jackie, all of Camden; three grandsons, Chad B. Pate and wife, Holly, of Camden, Brady Jeffus of Camden, and Kevin Pate of Texas; one granddaughter, Betsy Jeffus Tuberville and husband, Nick of Camden; one great grandson, Dalton Pate; five great granddaughters, Laney Pate, Rebecca Jeffus, Madison Jeffus, Mallory Jeffus and Emma Tuberville, all of Camden; two sisters, Juanita Huntley Mitchell of White Hall, AR and Carolyn Huntley Ratliff and husband, Charles (Buddy) of Houston, TX; special friends, Betty Smith of Camden, Rick and Elaine Mayorgas of Little Rock, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday October 17, 2011 at Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church located on Ouachita 3 in Camden, with Rev. Roberta Johnson officiating followed by interment at Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday October 16, 2011 at Proctor Funeral Home.
