Hershel H. Hunter was born November 8, 1914 in Rudy, Arkansas to Newton S. and Mary E. Pixley Hunter.

He married Alleen Bowman December 13, 1937 in Crawford County, Arkansas.
To this marriage was born a son.

He departed this life on June 8, 1993 in Van Buren, Arkansas.

Allene Hunter, 94, of Van Buren, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 in Fort Smith.
She was born July 19, 1921 in Rudy to the late James and Sophronia Bowman.

She was a homemaker, and a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel H. Hunter, and a son, Garland "Sonny" Hunter.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Lewis and husband Bert of Fort Smith, and Rhonda Hanna and husband David of Van Buren; three sons, Harold Hunter and wife Judy of Fort Smith, James Hunter and wife Carol of Van Buren, and Noah Hunter and wife Edith of Van Buren; two sisters, Elsie Coatney McCurdy of Rudy, and Clayceail Brown of Alma; a brother, Bill Bowman of Van Buren; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
