FAYETTEVILLE — Lora Jean Porter, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in Fayetteville. She
was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Ordway, Colo., to Joseph and Ruby Shaffer Zimmerman.

She moved to Brentwood, Ark., from Ordway, Colo., in 1945. Lora Jean attended Brentwood Community School through eighth grade and graduated from West Fork High School in 1948. She was a member of West Fork Church of Christ and Center Street Church of Christ.

Lora Jean was a well known seamstress who owned her own custom drapery business. She made draperies for many prominent people throughout Northwest Arkansas.

Lora Jean is survived by her husband, Leon Porter of the home; son, Ronnie Porter and wife, Sheri of Springdale; son, Randy Porter of Springdale; daughter, Gail Ingalls and husband Ken, of West Fork; son, Rusty Porter and wife Stella, of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren: Ashley Prendergast, Tyler Porter, Jared Porter, Rebecca Lehew, Rachel Ingalls, Devon Porter and Michelle Porter; and one great-grandchild, Ryleigh Grace.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2017, at Beard's Chapel. Interment will follow in Brentwood Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the funeral home.
