Mrs. Jane Huffman, 67, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Blytheville, died Monday June 30, 2008. Born May 17, 1941, in Little Rock, to the late Edward and Shirley Ahrens Lewis, she graduated from Hutchinson School in Memphis, and then attended Mary Baldwin College and the University of Arkansas, where she was a member of Phi Beta Phi Sorority. While at UA, she met and later married Alvin "Bo" Huffman, III. Early in their marriage, they lived in Athens, Ga., and Newport, R.I., and Chicago before returning to Blytheville in 1967.

When their children were grown, she became a marketing and information services specialist at Arkansas Northeastern College. Throughout her time in Blytheville, she left a mark on the community with her artistic and writing talents. She was actively involved in many activities, including the Red Cross, PEO and the First Presbyterian Church. She served at the state level on the Arkansas National Heritage Commission and the Committee of One Hundred. For the last two years in Nashville, she was active in Junior League and PEO, making new friendships with whom she continued to share sewing interests and creative talents. She enjoyed needlework, decorating, painting, reading and crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Huffman leaves her husband of 46 years, Bo Huffman of Nashville;

Two children, Laura Huffman Byrd and her husband, Dr. John C. Byrd of Columbus, Ohio, and Edward "Teddy" Huffman and his wife, Cheryl, of Darien, Conn.;

Her mother-in-law, Virginia Huffman;

Five grandchildren, Edward Byrd, William Byrd, Benjamin Huffman, Andrew Huffman and Nicholas Huffman; and

Many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Blytheville. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the church at 1520 N. 10th St., Blytheville, Ark 72315 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
