Robert Gerald "Bob" Shumate married Grace Evelyn Treadway in Jefferson, Arkansas, on October 3, 1948, when he was 21 years old.

Robert G. "Bob" Shumate, age 85, passed away, Sunday, August 18, 2013. He was born August 22, 1927 near Greenbrier, Arkansas, a son of Bob and Vivian Shumate. He was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War era. He retired from Terminix and was also a retired Baptist preacher.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Holliman Welcher Shumate of Morrilton; son, David "Bo" Shumate of Little Rock; daughter, Elaine Hankins of Little Rock; step-daughter, Sandra Holman and husband David of Springfield; son-in-law, Ronnie Curtis of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Karen Welcher of Morrilton; sister, Bobbie Joslin and husband Otis of Morrilton; brother, J.T. Shumate of Little Rock.
He is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Grace Shumate; daughter, Sarah Curtis; step-son, Jimmy Welcher; son-in-law, Dewey Hankins and three brothers, and five sisters.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20 at McNew Cemetery with Josh Cannon, Mark Ramsfield and Chris Garrett officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 19 at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
