Jonell (Williams) Shumate left us on December 7, 2021, to spend eternity with her loving husband of 59 years, the late A.R. Shumate. Jonell was born on June 2, 1932, in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, to the late William and Katie Williams. Jonell and A.R. moved to the St. Louis area in 1955 where they built their life together. They had one son, Tommy. Jonell was employed at Brown Shoe Company and moved on to Serta Mattress where she retired in 1990. She was also a beautician with her own shop in the basement of their home in Maryland Heights. After retirement, Jonell and A.R. moved to Troy, Missouri, where she took on her next endeavor, flower arranging. She was incredibly talented and a staple at many craft shows in the area. Jonell spent a full and amazing 89 years with her family and friends. Left to mourn her loss is her loving son, Tommy; two granddaughters, Katie and Nancy; six great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Fletcher) Davis; brothers, John (Pat) Williams and Clovis (Beth) Williams; sister-in-law, Shirley Ragsdell and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 12-4:00pm, at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone Street Troy, Missouri.A visitation will also be held on Monday, December 13, 2021, from 6-8:00pm, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, 115 S. Broadview, Greenbrier, Arkansas.A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 10:00am, in McNew Cemetery, Greenbrier, Arkansas.

Alvin Ross ""A. R."" Shumate, 85, of Troy, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.
He was born June 26, 1926, in Greenbrier, to the late Alvin Ross Shumate and Ethel Verna Potts Shumate.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, an Army veteran serving in Germany and Korea, and a retired farmer. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and raising bees.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jonell Williams Shumate; his son, Tommy Shumate and wife Theresa of Winfield, Mo.; two granddaughters, Katie (Scott) Fagin and Nancy (Shaun) Fitzgerald; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Ragsdell; and many other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
He was preceded in death by five siblings all from Arkansas, Geraldine (Harold) Green, Clara (Noel) Cole, Eugene ""Buddy"" (Angie) Shumate, Arcell (Neil) Walters and Norman (Lillian) Shumate.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, with burial in McNew Cemetery near Greenbrier.
Memorials may be made to the Charity of donor's choice.
