Obituary
Henry C. Melton, 93, of Batesville, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 in a Batesville nursing home.
Born Sunday, March 4, 1917 in the Lafferty area, he was the son of Richard and Della Mae (Clouse) Melton.
He was the owner of Independence County Construction Company and a home builder in the Batesville area for 45 years. He enjoyed building, gardening, cooking and canning.
Henry was a mason and a member of the Cushman Assembly of God church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Alene (Slagles) Melton; and one son, Kenneth Jerry Melton.
Survivors include two sons: James Henry Melton and Chester Wayne Melton, both of Batesville; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are James Ray Melton, David Melton, Lonnie Clark, Brady Melton, Russell Melton and Phillip Edwards. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Walton, Dr. J. E. Lytle and Harold Ball.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the Cushman Assembly of God with Bro. Carl Blankenship officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Cushman under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
