Donnie Melton the husband of Virginia (Mobley) Melton. Donnie Melton served in the US Army during WWII. Virginia (Mobley) Melton daughter of Theodore and Edna (Hatler) Mobley.
Virginia Melton, 92, of Charlotte died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Batesville. She was born Tuesday, May 25, 1920 in Cord, AR and was the daughter of Theodore and Edna (Hatler) Mobley.
She was a retired rice and soybean farmer in the Cord and Black River Bottoms area. Some of her hobbies were crocheting, piecing quilts and she liked gospel singing. She was a member of the Oak Ridge Methodist Church and in her earlier years, she led singing at the services.
She is survived by her sisters: Ella Melton of Cord, Melba Clouse and Lawanda Berry both of Batesville; one nephew, Von Clouse of Batesville; three nieces: Kathy Hickerson of Cord, Lynn Haas of Batesville, and a special niece, Jan Daniel also of Batesville; several great- nieces and great-nephews and special great-nephew, Eric Nast of Batesville; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donnie Melton; and one brother.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Daniel, John Clouse, Ronnie Clouse, Otto Graham, David Hix, Tony Smith, Grant Daniel, Dr. David Fielder, Morris Bradley, Gene Melton, and Bub Erwin.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell Cemetery in Cord under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
