Thomas Perkin Thomas, Sr., 73, of Smackover was fatally injured in a two-car collision about six miles east of Norphlet on the Joyce City-Snow Hill Road in Ouachita County Friday at 2:445 p.m. State Troopers August Pieroni and Bill Crowell reported that Thomas was traveling south approaching a car driven by Mrs. J. H. Boren, 56, of Rt.1 Boc 69, Louann, when he attempted a left turn into the path of her car. Mrs. Boren was not injured. Thomas was brought to El Dorado in Young's ambulance and died at 3:30 p.m. while undergoing surgery in a local hospital. He was born in Batesville, Miss., March 29, 1891, the son of Anne and Evan Thomas. He was the owner and operator of the Greyhound Machine and Supply Co., of Smackover since 1920 and was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Elliott's Baptist Church and a Mason. Survivors include: his widow, Mrs. Donie Bowden Thomas; one son, Thomas P. Thomas, Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Scott and Miss Donna Ann Thomas; three grandchildren; one step-brother, Richard H. Vickers, all of Smackover. Funeral services will be announced by Young's. (The El Dorado Times - January 23, 1965)
