MELBOURNE – Lola Gladys Dowdle Wilson, 97, of Melbourne died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2003, at a Melbourne nursing home.
Born Sept. 22, 1905, in Izard County, she was the daughter of Baxter Dowdle and Ada Mynatt Dowdle. She was a homemaker, was employed by the Pioneer Nursing Home for 18 years and was a member of Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne for 84 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Earldean Loggains of Melbourne; two grandchildren, Eddy Loggains of Melbourne and Sandy Massey of Salem; four great-grandchildren, Matt Loggains and Will Loggains, both of Melbourne, Roy Massey and Samantha Massey, both of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Wilson; two brothers, Glen Dowdle and O.T. Dowdle; and three sisters, Alma Byrd, Narvell McCollum and Juanita Williams.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne with Tim Porter and Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Old Philadelphia Cemetery at Melbourne with arrangements by Eddie’s Family Funeral Home of Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Charles Dowdle, Donal Dowdle, J.B. Byrd, Bobby Blankenship, Dale Harmon, Brad Blankenship, Eddie Haley and Ronal Dowdle.
