JANUARY, 1947: Mrs.Lula Leona Carter, aged 65, died at her home West of Conway yesterday following a 10-day illness. Mrs Carter was the wife of John C. Carter and had lived near Conway 15 years. The family came here from Altus, Franklin Co. where Mrs. Carter was born September 20,1881. She was married December 1, 1899. Also, surviving are six sons, Deloy, Clarence, Raymond and Hulon Carter all of Conway. Buford and Odis Carter of Little Rock, Arkansas. Miss Lillian Carter and Mrs Velma Robins of Conway and Leona Frank of Little Rock; two brothers, Tilman Adcock of Conway and Truman Adcock of Houston, Texas. Six sisters,Minnie Watkins, Ila Hoover, and Ester Rutledge of Wichita, Kansas. Mrs. Della Barr and Mrs. Edith Starkey of Conway, Arkansas; Beulah Carter of St. Joseph, Mo, Feneral services will be held at McNutt's funeral home @ 2:30 p.m.Sunday by Rev. J. W Hendickson and Rev. E.F.Simmons. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
