Cecil Edgar Carter, 98, of Conway, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. He was born in Wooster, Arkansas to Thomas and Edna (Tilley) Carter on September 19, 1924.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Clara Carter; his parents; and two sisters, Charlene Shamburger and Lucille Roberts.
He was veteran of the United States Navy during World War II where he was stationed in Hawaii. Cecil worked as a commercial fisherman, a taxidermist and enjoyed a long career at International Shoe Company until his retirement, which he spent raising cattle with his wife, Clara.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Berry (Roden); two brothers, Thomas Carter of Hot Springs and Jerry Carter of Texas; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside memorial held at a later date at Carter Cemetery in Vilonia.

Clara Carter, 81, of Conway, died February 21, 2011. She was born June 18, 1929, in Vilonia, AR, to the late Emmett and Ida Speights. She worked for the International Shoe Co., owned/operated her own beauty shop, and was of the Nazarene Faith. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Othur Speights and two sisters, Dorothy Makey and Nettie Ruth Baird.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Cecil Carter; a son Edward Hoggard and a daughter, Shirley Berry of Conway; two brothers, Johnny and William Speights; two sisters, Hazel Hendricks and Ida Mae Ash; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Carter Cemetery, in Vilonia.
