Elmer Gardner Jones, 81, Hampton, died Friday at home following a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 18, 1882 in Calhoun County. A retired farmer he was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Hampton. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rhodia Inger Jones of Hampton; three sons, Ervin J. Jones and Harvey T. Jones, both of El Dorado, and Gervis L. Jones of Hampton; three daughters, Mrs. Clyde Sandifer of Coalinga, Calif., Mrs. Mary Yates of Houston, Tex. and Mrs. R. L. Hamilton of El Dorado; two step-sons, Clarence Kelly and Hughey Kelly, both of Madisonville, Ky.; a brother, Emmett Jones of Turlock, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Reddin and Mrs. Ethel Strickland, both of Hampton and Mrs. Mincie Reddin of Bearden, ark.; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and a great great grandson. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. (The El Dorado Times - May 23, 1964)
