Robert Kelt 'Johnny' Cox, Jr., of Calico Rock, son of the late Robert Kelt Cox, Sr. and Cora Octavia McGowan was born March 1, 1932 in Haines. He died Saturday, October 12, 1991 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 59.
He worked for the last 19 years as a deputy sheriff for the Baxter County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Arkansas Sheriff Association, Arkansas Girls and Boys Ranch, Outstanding Deputy for the State of Arkansas since 1984, the longest tenure deputy in Arkansas and Great Supporter Sheriff Magazine. He was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Calico Rock.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Joe of Calico Rock; one daughter, Twila Jane Padelford; son-in-law Christopher and granddaughter Samantha Jane, all of Mountain View; two brothers; Troy Cox of Big Flat and Leffell Cox of Culp. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, October 15, at 2 p.m. in the Table Rock Community Center, Culp with Don Reed officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the Sheriff Department and the Sheriff Auxiliary. Pallbearers were Jack Gregory, Joe Edmonds, Sylvester Parnell, Terry Johnson, Tommy Stien and Phil Frame. Burial was at the Table Rock Cemetery, Culp, under the directions of the Howard Funeral Home of Calico Rock.

Martha Joe Cox, age 75, of Melbourne, Arkansas died December 24, 2014at the Medical Center of Izard County. Martha was born April 29, 1939 to Jim Hill and Vera Harris Hill in Culp, Arkansas. She married R.K. “Johnny” Cox, Jr. on May 17, 1957.
Survivors are; one daughter: Twila Helton and her husband Michael of Culp; one granddaughter, Samantha Padelford of Calico Rock; and two great grandchildren, Carter Padelford and Madalyn Simmons of Melbourne. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Her body was donated to science.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, January 4 at 3:00 p.m. at New Hope Christian Fellowship with Wade Moser officiating.
