GILBERT, EA - Rev. E.A. Gilbert died last Wednesday, November 28th at his home in this city after an illness of several months. He was 79 years old, having been born December 18, 1844 at Tuscaloosa, Georgia. Funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Lucke, assisted by Rev. E.M. Dugger of Springdale, a former Rogers pastor. Rev. Gilbert made his home here with his daughter, Miss Rose Gilbert of the Mutual Aid Union force. Mrs. W.R. Nelson of Sedalia, Mo., a daughter, a former Rogers resident, was here for several weeks previous to her father's death. The deceased was an ex-Confederate soldier and had been a preacher for many years. He became a minister in the Arkansas Conference of the M.E. church in 1885 and was superannuated in 1908. A quiet God-fearing citizen, he leaves many acquaintances and friends throughout the state who will regret to learn of his answer to the final roll call.
