Train Runs Over John H. White Of Springdale
Funeral Service Set For Today At Pilgrims Rest
Springdale, Oct. 6,-(Special)-The body of John H. White, 52, Springdale laborer, was found on the Frisco Railroad tracks in the south part of the city about 8:30 yesterday morning by D. A. Marshall of Springdale. Parts of the body, apparently run over by one or two trains, had been scattered for several hundred yards along the right of way.
Washington County Coroner Edmond Watson, who investigated with State Patrolman Troy Oliver and Chief Deputy Sheriff Fred Bohannon, found that White was killed by a train, either Saturday night or early yesterday morning.
A northbound train passed through Springdale about 8:30 p.m., Saturday. Another train, a freight, went north about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
White was a native of Sonora, but had spent most of his life in Springdale. He was an employee of the Johnson-Steele Canning Plant.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha N. White of Springdale; three sons, William Harvey White, Charles J. White and Joe Calvin White, all of Springdale; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Langston of Pilgrims Rest and Mrs. M. A. Threet of Bentonville, and three brothers, Homer White and William White, both of Springdale and Alvin White of Little Rock.
Funeral services were to be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Pilgrims Rest. Burial under direction of the Callison-Russell Funeral Home was to be in Joyce cemetery.
