Floy Mitchell Mills Day, 98, of Conway, died July 12, 2007 at Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab Center in Greenbrier. Born on January 5,1909, in Greenbrier, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Nathan Mills and Mattie Surratt Mills Goode. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Harvis Day; sister, Joy Mills Handy; brothers, Russell D. Mills and Carlos Mills.
Floy Day was the oldest member of Needs Creek Baptist Church, having been a faithful member since age 13. She was a loving, devoted, and caring mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Floy's love of life centered on her faith in God, her family, and her friends. She dedicated herself unconditionally to a faithful service to God. All who knew her will remember her great sense of humor and the kind and loving manner that was all her own. Floy had a passion for music, especially gospel. She was a loyal choir member for several years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, and cooking. Sharing special dishes with others gave her much happiness. Her Christian example will be forever cherished by her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Joy Leta Wilson and husband, Jerry, of Conway, Arkansas; granddaughter, Susan Carol Short and husband, Gary, of Maryville, Tennessee; grandson, Jeffrey Alan Wilson and wife, Laura, of Rogers, Arkansas; and special great-granddaughters, Amanda Short, Allison Short, and Cheney Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 14,at Needs Creek Baptist Church, in Greenbrier, at 3:00 pm, with Rev. Ron Mitchell and Rev. Coyce Couch officiating. Burial will be in Needs Creek Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July13, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Pallbearers will be Jeff Wilson, Gary Short, Steve Mills, Carlton Day, Johnny Day, Jim Day, Bob Lowry, and Donald Brannan. Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Mills, Billy Mills, Dick Mills, Bill Batson, Bob Clark, and Bob Williams.
