Emmett Payne, age 82, a resident of Russellville, AR, died Friday, March 16, 2001 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center at Russellville, AR. He was born on January 2, 1919 at Neosho, MO, to Charles and Ethel (Moser) Payne. Mr. Payne was a retired foreman with Russellville Steel Company. He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel G. Payne; a son, Stephen Payne; a granddaughter Kristie Payne; one sister, Dorothy Ratley; his parents. He was a member of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Payne was best known in the area for his love of flea markets and swap meets where he was as crafty at buying as he was at selling items. His family said 'if you ever listened to Dial-a-Trade' you would recognize his familiar voice.

Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Suzanne and Carlos Hiatt of Clearwater, Debra and Mike Hamm of Gallatin; two grandchildren, Stacie West and Shelly Hugghins; 8 other grandchildren; several great grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Payne of Wichita Falls, Charles Payne of Perris, Ray Payne of Norwalk; one sister, Emma Adams of El Dorado.

Funeral service was at 10 A.M. Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at the Humphrey Chapel officiated by Rev. Roger Pearce. Entombment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Mausoleum by Humphrey Funeral Service. The family did receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
