Carl "Judge" Payne, 74, of Dover, AR, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Legacy Heights Nursing Home in Russellville, AR, surrounded by family, friends and nursing home staff who loved and cared for him deeply.
The son of Euel and Belva Louise Payne, he was born March 15, 1943, in Dover, AR.
He married Mariola Wood, on August 29, 1964, at Pangburn, AR. He was a heavy equipment operator for Payne’s Dozers, Inc., the company he started and ran successfully for 33 years. Prior to that, he owned & operated Payne's Grocery in Dover for more than 13 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mariola Payne of Dover; a son, Brent Payne (Mary Ann) of Dover; a daughter, Maria Whitted (Ed) of Dover; a sister, Anita “Buckle” Helton (James), of Bixby, OK; a grandson, Tanner Whitted; three granddaughters, Brooke Payne, Meredith Whitted, and Katy Payne, all of Dover; a nephew, Mike Helton of Bixby, OK; a sister-in-law, Laquita Kent (Geoffrey) of Washington, DC; and other relatives and friends.
