Alvy Mitchell, 88, of Mountain View entered into rest on September 5, 2011 in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Alvy was born September 15, 1922 in Fifty Six, Arkansas to Jake and Beulah (Pogue) Mitchell.

He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated a laundry in California, and retired from the U.S. Forest Service. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather.

Alvy is survived by his children; Steve Mitchell of Arkansas, Nancy Decker and husband Hinkle and Cathy McCarn and husband Jim all of Mtn. View and Joyce Wait and husband Jim of Houston, Texas; three sisters June, Betty Ann and Alfa; fourteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren and a special niece Cathy Gheta and husband Terry of El Dorado, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife Fern (Dobbins) Mitchell; his parents, Jake and Beulah Mitchell; sister Ada and granddaughter, Traci Cheyenne.

Visitation is 6 – 8 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Roller Crouch Chapel, Mtn. View.

Funeral service is 2 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Roller Crouch Chapel, Mtn. View with Bro. David Diffey officiating and interment in Fifty Six Cemetery, Fifty Six, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Tim Decker, Bob Decker, Jason Wait, Jeff Wait, Kevin McCarn, Kyle McCarn, Dusty Mitchell, Terry Gheta and Steve Dobbins.
